So I was brushing my teeth the other day, and noticed a bit of rust around my drain, and for some reason that made me think of the 1983 hit by UB40, "Red Red Wine."
This song is one of those songs that, while on the surface doesn't seem to pack that much of a punch, really finds its strength from behind the scenes. I mean, obviously the most striking feature of the song is that it's a reggae song, sung by a skinny, ugly white guy. What I like about this even more is that the music video cleary is trying to make you look past that obvious blemish due to the front man hanging out and being chummy with a bunch of Bob Marley-esque Rastas.
Anyways, "Red Red Wine" isn't a bad song, but it isn't a great song either. However, few can disagree that it is quite a parasitic song, and one that is most definitely hard to shake once it's in your head.
