While the majority of this blog will be devoted to shame songs you hate to admit you love (or I love, really... who knows if you love them too), horrible covers, and just flat out bad songs that should have never been produced, let alone given any fame, there will be times like this one where I'll switch it up, and talk about really good songs, bands, or in this case, songs that I feel have fallen to the wayside and need to be revisited.
(By the way, I hope none of you are big sticklers on grammar because I realize that last sentence was one hell of a run-on. If it bothers you, I apologize.)
The song I want to talk about today is a song called "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm" from a 90s Canadian band, The Crash Test Dummies. What makes the Dummies a really unique band, is that their lead singer was this weird looking skinny guy with some interesting facial expressions and a realllly deep baritone voice.
I just love this song. The novelty of his voice is really great, but more importantly it's kind of a pretty cool, yet touching story within the song itself. Also, the music video is, in my mind, pretty rad. I don't know what it is about music videos in the 90s, but some of them were just so simple and brilliant. Some others I would suggest checking out would definitely be Blind Melon's "No Rain" (the Bumblebee Girl... so iconic for the 90s) and Beck's "Loser".
So there you go. Check out those videos and get in touch with your inner 90s self.
