Because Kelly Osbourne lackluster try at singing was just flat out bad. Her cover of Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach" was just a bad idea from the start. By the way, that's how this song got stuck in my head; I heard the Madonna version playing at a bar, and unfortunately it reminded me of Kelly's version.
Now granted, Ozzy isn't the greatest singer in the world, but there's a few things that he does better than his daughter, mainly, well singing for starters. Secondly, he has been able to be a constant rock icon for like 4 decades, and through that whole time, he hasn't changed his image. He's just become more likable because he's becoming more senile.
Anyways, I guess the point I'm trying to make about his daughter, is that a.) she can't sing, and b.) when she was trying to be a pop star, her "pop-goth" look just made her look like she couldn't make up her mind. I mean in her music video, shes shopping for clothes and doing an awkward white-guy dance, while trying to maintain her Hot Topic-like edge. I just don't buy it. In fact, I don't even buy that that's her real voice. Stand aside Ashlee Simpson.
But I have to give it to Kelly. Just like all of the other songs I've written about, she got one thing right. She made her cover just catchy enough where it gets stuck in your head and it doesn't make it out for a very long time.
Damn it, I'm singing it in my head right now and I hate it.
